4. Cool Roofing In White Or Other Light Colors
Light-color roofing is popular for the sake of appearance and also for energy savings. Asphalt shingles are available in beige and other light colors, and you can buy metal roofing and concrete tiles in a color similar to white. You can also get flat roofing materials in white. White is a good roofing choice when you want your home to stay cooler in the summer.
Dark roofs absorb heat from the sun and heat up your attic. White roofs reflect the sun and stay cooler so your home doesn't get as hot. This gives your air conditioner a break and your energy bills might be lower as a result.
