If you live off the local water system, you need to have a well so that you can have running water at your house. If you are going to have a well, you need to make sure that it's in the right place. There's no point in having a well dug that isn't going to last for a long time. It can take a lot of work to make sure that you get a good well. It's an entire process. No one just jumps right in to dig a well without that work.
Finding the Water
The first part of digging your new well is finding the water. There are several ways that this can be done. One is to look at the various features of your ground. Certain features may have a better chance of water being nearby than others. Another way the water well installers can find the water is to use something like a ground-penetrating radar. They will run that radar over the areas where the well might be best placed. The reason to do that is that the radar will let the installation company look at the stuff that's happening under the ground. It will let them figure out where the water is and how far down it is. Water will send up a different kind of return to the radar than rocks and soil will.
Drilling the Well
Wells are basically all dug the same way. You take off the upper soil and then drill a hole down into the water source. On a well for your house, you need to make sure that the well is wide enough and deep enough that you are going to have a sufficient amount of water in it, even during dry periods. The well digging company will bring out a huge auger. This is like a big drill that they will place where you are going to have a well. That will let them start drilling. The thing with the auger, if you need a deeper well, they will be able to keep adding in piping to the auger so that they can dig the well down as far as it should be.
If you are going to live in the country and away from the municipal water system, then you are going to need to have a reliable well digging company come out and place and dig your sell for you.

However, most people in this field have a specialty. Some hang drywall. Others paint. Still others know how to pour foundations or install roofs. While some construction workers and contractors move from field to field throughout their careers, others spend their career honing one particular skill. Either approach is fine, from our perspective. What we really care about is the excellent work that these workers do, and that's what we plan to feature on this website.
